Kate Middleton isn’t the only royal who has mastered the art of playing sports in heels — not by a long shot. It seems like it’s almost a job requirement for women in the royal family to be able to master all sports in stilettos.
But the Duchess of Cambridge might have some competition now, thanks to her new sister-in-law Meghan Markle.
The 37-year-old Duchess of Sussex was spotted participating in some feats of strength and agility in stilettos at the Coach Core Awards held at Loughborough University this afternoon. The career-building apprenticeship program gives 16 to 24 year olds without education or career training the opportunity to become coaches. Markle, along with her husband Prince Harry, were seen participating in a passing drill.
In a video clip posted by royal correspondent Rebecca English, Markle can be seen twirling in her heels while passing the ball to fellow attendees while she participated in drills and games.
According to Meghan’s Mirror, a blog dedicated to the Duchess of Cambridge’s style, Markle attended the event wearing Aquazzura’s “Simply Irresistible” 105 Black Pumps with an Oscar de la Renta top and Altuzarra pants.
She has some catching up to do though: Middleton has played sports donning wedge sandals and running in stiletto boots.
In 2012, Middleton was spotted running with St. Andrew’s hockey team in stiletto boots and a long-sleeve dress at the Berkshire school. Two years later she was seen playing cricket in New Zealand in wedges, also competing in an obstacle course.
While it’s unclear as to whether or not Markle won any of the games this afternoon, she appeared to have a good time, despite the heels. She tweeted via the Kensington Royal account that Coach Core “was an incredible inspiration.”
Here’s to many more years of being gifted with photos of Markle playing sports in stilettos.
